Eric Law scored with 13 seconds left to cap Denver's big comeback in a 12-11 win over North Carolina in an NCAA lacrosse quarterfinal Sunday. Denver trailed by as many as six goals and was down five at halftime.

Top prep prospect Andrew Wiggins to attend Kansas
Top basketball prospect Andrew Wiggins is headed to Kansas. Wiggins signed a letter-of-intent with the Jayhawks at a private ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Huntington. He previously narrowed his choices to Kentucky, North Carolina and Florida State.

Duke's Hairston has right thumb surgery
Duke says rising senior Josh Hairston will miss 6-8 weeks of offseason work while he recovers from thumb surgery. The school said Hairston had surgery Tuesday to repair ligament damage in his right thumb. He injured his thumb during practice in February but did not miss any time in games.

NC State announces 10-person class for sports hall
Receiver Torry Holt and basketball players Tommy Burleson and Ronnie Shavlik are headed into North Carolina State's sports hall of fame. The school on Monday announced a class that also includes former basketball coach Norm Sloan, former football coach Earle Edwards and women's basketball player Andrea Stinson.

UNCW Seahawks ready to tee off in NCAAs
Last month, the Seahawks captured their third straight Colonial Athletic Association championship and the squad found out last week it would tee off at the Blessing Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 16 for the NCAA Regional, marking the program's fourth straight NCAA appearance.

Tar Heels-Gamecocks to open 2015 season with game in Charlotte
The North Carolina Tar Heels and South Carolina Gamecocks will open their 2015 football seasons at bank of America in Charlotte, it was announced Thursday. UNC and South Carolina will open this season with a meeting in Columbia in August.

Davidson to join Atlantic 10 Conference in 2014
The Davidson Wildcats will leave the Southern Conference to join the Atlantic 10 in 19 of their 21 sports beginning in 2014. Football remains a member of the Pioneer League, while wrestling will petition the Southern Conference to remain as a member there.

Big Ten-ACC Challenge matchups announced
Michigan visits Duke and North Carolina travels to Michigan State in this year's Big Ten-ACC Challenge. The conferences announced the matchups Wednesday for the 12-game schedule to be played Dec. 3-4. Fourteen of the teams played in the NCAA tournament last season.

N.C. State softball set for a home run in upcoming ACC tournament
The brackets are out for the upcoming ACC softball tournament, which gets under way Thursday in Tallahassee. The N.C. State Wolfpack is primed to make the Big Dance for the first time in six years. N.C. State is considered to be among the favorites. State enters the ACC Tournament as the No. 2 Seed.

ACC sets bowl lineup for 2013 season
The Atlantic Coast Conference has set its bowl lineup for its first season as a 14-team league. The league announced Monday that it will have eight guaranteed bowl slots and a conditional deal for a ninth bowl.
