CHARLOTTE -- After more than a year of planning, the first signs of the Democratic National Convention can be seen in and around uptown Charlotte. The convention begins in two weeks and emergency personnel, vendors and construction crews are all getting ready.

Among the changes, the postal service announced Monday that mailboxes will be removed and that mail chutes will be sealed. The changes will not disrupt mail service. The post office on North McDowell Street will also remain open. The mailboxes will be removed next Monday and put back on Sept. 10.

News 14 Carolina's David Kernodle has more in this report from the site of the Presidential Experience in uptown.
