WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C.--The Coast Guard celebrated a milestone, as Saturday marked the organization's 222nd birthday.
Members of the Coast Guard station at Wrightsville Beach say what's most interesting about the organization is how it's changed through the years.
"I was a member of the Coast Guard during September 11. so you saw the Coast Guard go from being a search and rescue organization to an anti-terror organization," said Jose Segura, Wrightsville Beach Coast Guard.
There are 26 active duty Coast Guard members at the Wrightsville Beach station and more than 43,000 nationwide.
