RALEIGH (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with forward Tim Wallace on a one-year, two-way contract. The team announced the deal Thursday.

Wallace will make $700,000 at the NHL level or $105,000 if he is sent to the minor leagues.

The 27-year-old split last season with Tampa Bay and the New York Islanders and combined for three goals and six assists in 49 NHL games. Tampa Bay claimed him on waivers on Feb. 23 and all three of his goals came with the Lightning.

Vice president of hockey operations Ron Francis says Wallace should challenge for a roster spot during preseason camp.
