Charlotte Fire Department investigates Dilworth neighborhood fire

CHARLOTTE--The Charlotte Fire Department is investigating a fire that broke out early Saturday morning at a commercial building in East Boulevard in the Dilworth neighborhood.


The entire block of East Boulevard was full of emergency vehicles this morning, as crews worked to put out the fire at the Allen Tate building behind me. Officials say when crews arrived on scene, they reported heavy smoke and fire conditions.


All of the crews worked early this morning to battle the fire, and there were about 50 firefighters involved in the effort.


Firefighters responded to the two alarm fire around 2:20 a.m. and it took them about an hour and 40 minutes to get it under control.


Fire investigators were waiting to start their process until crews had the fire under control. Now they're working on determining the origin and cause of the fire.


Officials say the building is a total loss, and there were no injuries.
