STANLY COUNTY, N.C. -- The treasurer of the Parent Teacher Association at a Stanly County school is accused of embezzlement. Authorities say 42-year-old Kristi Humphrey stole money from the North Stanly Middle School PTA bank account over about a six-month period.

Another PTA member reported the missing funds. Authorities say Humphrey failed to make cash deposits into the PTA account and had written unauthorized checks.

Humphrey is charged with embezzlement and forgery.
