CHARLOTTE -- Fire departments from Charlotte, Mount Holly, Kannapolis and Albemarle faced off in the Lift Master Skills Competition at Charlotte Motor Speedway Tuesday.

Participants were timed in a 75 foot aerial climb and a 150 foot hose drag before battling in a head-to-head NASCAR pit stop. Albemarle beat Kannapolis in the finals.

For winning the competition, Albemarle will receive an overhaul of its firehouse door systems from lift master.

"You know we're a small town with three stations and when we come in and take out some bigger departments like Charlotte and stuff, you know, it's always bragging rights to go home to," said Capt. Brad Jenkins with the Albemarle Fire Department. "So we're definitely proud of that."

Albemarle firefighters will also get to watch the Coca Cola 600 from the Lift Master suite at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
