GREENSBORO — A third week of testimony begins Monday morning in the in the John Edwards campaign finance trial in Greensboro.
Last week, Cheri Young, whose husband Andrew served as Edwards' former aide, told the court Edwards asked her husband to falsely claim he fathered a child with Rielle Hunter; Edwards' mistress.
On Wednesday, Edwards' former research director testified about Elizabeth Edwards' distraught reaction to the National Enquirer story about the affair.
The week wrapped up with testimony about the transfer of money from heiress Bunny Mellon to the Edwards' campaign. Prosecutors say Edwards used nearly $1 million of campaign donations to cover up his affair, but Edwards' attorneys say the money was a gift.
Prosecutors say they expect to finish calling witnesses later in the week. Then witnesses for the defense will have their chance to testify.
