WILMINGTON -- Less people are visiting the Battleship North Carolina. According to the Star News, 16,000 fewer people visited the ship last year.

Officials attribute that drop-off to a sluggish economy and poor weather. They say they're continuing to push for military education programs and other private events to increase awareness of the ship.

An online store was launched in December to try and boost revenue.
