CHARLOTTE -- Democratic National Convention Chair Antonio Villaraigosa will tour the Queen City Tuesday in preparation for the Democratic National Convention. This is the Los Angeles mayor's first visit to Charlotte since he was nominated as chair.

The permanent chair presides over the convention proceedings, serves as the national spokesperson and conducts other convention business. Tuesday, Villaraigosa will tour the Charlotte Convention Center, Time Warner Cable Arena, Bank of America Stadium and other primary convention venues. The mayor will also receive updates on convention planning.
