CHARLOTTE-- The woman wanted on assault charges is in custody Monday morning after officials say she poured a pot of hot grease on a crowd of people Sunday. Regina Terry, 33, was arrested in Richmond County and faces charges after seven people were hurt, and six of those victims, including a 1-year-old child, were rushed to the Burn Center in Chapel Hill.

Witnesses describe the injuries as being serious.

Tara McLean, a resident in an apartment complex nearby, said her next door neighbor started an argument that quickly escalated.

McLean says there were over 20 people standing outside of the two apartments,
and her 42-year-old mother was trying to calm everyone down.

According to McLean, that's when her neighbor went inside and returned with a pot of hot grease. She says her neighbor then threw the pot of grease in the faces of McLean's mother, 6-year-old son, 27-year-old sister, as well as her three children, ages 8, 10, and 1.

Six of the victims were taken to the hospital, and McLean says the burns are severe.

"The youngest was a 1-year-old, whole forehead falling off. My mother had nothing to do with this. She was trying to calm it down," McLean said.

Terry was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail. She faces six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury and seven counts of malicious maiming. Terry will make her first appearance in court Tuesday.
