MAYSVILLE, N.C--A New Bern mother is dead and her 3-year-old daughter is alive after a head on collision in Jones County Friday.

The Fayetteville Observer reports 25-year-old Jessica Taylor died in a car crash on Highway U.S. 17 N in Maysville.

Taylor's daughter, Jaidyn Johnson was strapped in her car seat. The highway patrol says around 6:30 a.m. Taylor drove off the right side of the road, over corrected and crashed into a truck. The driver of the truck did not face serious injuries.
