CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. -- Dredging is underway along parts of the coast for the first time since Hurricane Irene.

The Army Corps of Engineers is trying to return several waterways including the Bogue, Topsail and New River inlets back to pre-hurricane conditions. They hope to finish the work in about 20 days.

The dredging is being paid for by state and federal funding.
