It's tax season and Turbo Tax is using social media to get you to use their service to do your filing. The company created a YouTube channel with videos offering tax tips and more information about their products. You can even notify friends on Facebook and Twitter when you finish filing.

Jeremy Lin, the point guard for the New York Knicks, is being called the next Tim Tebow after a crazy two weeks both on and off the court. Lin led the Knicks to their victory over the Lakers and hit a clutch three at the buzzer to beat Toronto, making him one of the most talked about guys in sports. Fans took to twitter to come up with puns like Lintastic and Linsanity to talk about the Harvard grad.

Queens University of Charlotte is up for a Shorty Award, which recognizes the best producers of short content on social media. Supporters vote for their favorite brands or people in different categories by how else, tweeting it! Reena Arora, the head of digital media for the university, said since starting the social media accounts, alumni have become more engaged in the happenings at the university. "[They] rediscover Queens, fall in love with it again, who see what we're doing on a daily basis," she said. "So it's just reinforced our sense of community, which is the nature of social media."

The department store Macy's wants you to create a free valentine for your loved one on their Facebook page. But it's not just a way to tell the special person in your life just how much you care. For every conversation heart sent they will donate $2 to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign. They promise to donate up to $250,000.

It's Super Bowl weekend and fans are eager to see the Giants and Patriots take the field. But not only is it the biggest event for the NFL, it's also expected to rattle the social media world. Last week, the NFL unveiled its Social Media Command Center for everything Super Bowl. 2011 was an incredible year for social media, especially the 140-character blog, Twitter. With one tweet, breaking news spread, lives were changed and pop-culture was changed forever. First up, who could forget Charlie Sheen's bizarre catchphrases? They quickly became popular hash tags and part of our vocabulary. Then there's that late Sunday night news in May that the world's most wanted man had been killed. The news of Osama bin Laden's death spread with a tweet from the chief of staff for the office of Donald Rumsfeld. What about using social media for good? The fast food chain Wendy's used a promoted tweet to raise $50,000 for foster children. Lastly, even the pope jumped on the social media train. He sent his first tweet using an iPad this past summer. Skype wants to help make your holiday travel a little more pleasant. Travelers will get a free hour of WiFi at select airports in the U.S. from Dec. 21 to Dec. 27. The closest airport to get the free service? The Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro. Skype hopes besides just surfing the web, you'll use their services to video chat with friends and family.

NORAD has been tracking the St. Nick's trip around the world for years and they're expecting thousands of phone calls (877-HI NORAD) and emails this year. Bears usually make the news for attacks or unwanted sightings but this week a video showing the softer side to the grizzly bear went viral. The Huffington Post reports the footage was taken in an animal park in Washington called the "Olympic Game Farm," a sanctuary known for taking in one-time animal performers and giving them a good home.

The Dutch airline, KLM, is giving passengers the power to pick who they sit next to using social media. The opt-in system called "Meet and Seat" will display the Facebook and LinkedIn profile pages of each passenger on the flight. Details are still under wraps but the program is set to launch next year.
