Accused mother to be extradited
Allison Quets
APEX, N.C. -- A woman accused of kidnapping her 17-month-old twins from their adoptive parents and taking them to Canada is expected to report to police Monday for extradition to the United States.
Allison Quets was released on bail late last week. She is currently in the custody of two Canadian couples who posted nearly $18,000 in bonds and cash.
Quets discussed the incident in an exclusive interview with the Ottawa Citizen on Saturday and said about the twins, "We have a real connection, a real bond. I know they want me to hold them and I can't because I'm not there."
Family members claim Quets was fatigued and disoriented when she gave up the twins -- 17-month-old Tyler Lee and Holly Ann -- whom she conceived through in-vitro fertilization. They say she's been fighting to regain custody ever since, and her attorney says she'll continue that fight when she returns to the U.S.
Meanwhile, the twins have been returned to their adoptive parents in Apex.
