ECU suspends RB Cooper following drug citation
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- East Carolina has suspended running back Vintavious Cooper from the team after he was cited for drug possession.
Coach Ruffin McNeill announced the suspension Friday. Campus police cited Cooper for misdemeanor possession of marijuana Thursday night.
McNeill says the program has standards for conduct and "our expectations are that those are followed to the letter.''
Cooper led the team with 1,049 yards rushing, had four 100-yard games and scored seven touchdowns for the Pirates.
