CHARLOTTE — Jurors have found Roger Honeycutt guilty for two rapes from the 1980's.

The defendant faced six charges for the two cases. Jurors deliberated several hours Friday afternoon, asking one question; to see the statement the second victim gave to police.

Honeycutt was arrested last summer with the help of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police's sexual assault cold case unit. Officers matched Honeycutt's DNA to the case.

The team has reviewed 1,700 cases. Honeycutt is the oldest cold case the unit has seen go to trial. His sentence has not been set yet but he could spend life in prison.
