PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA -- An Olympic athlete is facing murder charges in the shooting death of a woman at his home in South Africa.
Oscar Pistorius, 26, who came into fame during last summer's Olympics, was taken into custody after a neighbor called police.
Local media reports say his girlfriend, 30-year-old model Reeva Steenkamp, was mistaken for an intruder and shot. Police say they've been called to the house before.
Pistorius, who became known as the Blade Runner, made history last year as the first double leg amputee to run in the Olympics against able-bodied athletes.
Police say Pistorius is cooperating with their investigation.
