Update (Monday, Feb. 4): Caroline remains hospitalized at CMC and is showing daily improvements. She has received an outpouring of support from colleagues, friends and the community. On behalf of Caroline, News 14 Carolina would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and continued support.

CHARLOTTE -- A member of our News 14 Carolina family is in the hospital Thursday morning. Reporter Caroline Vandergriff is recovering from injuries suffered Wednesday night while covering a story.
She was shooting video of downed power lines at the intersection of East Morehead Street and Kenilworth Avenue. Two vehicles collided at the intersection and careened out of control. One of the cars hit Caroline.
She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where she is stable.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our friend and colleague.

News 14 Carolina and Time Warner Cable are doing all we can to support Caroline and her family. She remains hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center. She is awake, alert, upbeat and surprised at the attention this accident has generated. Her family flew in from Texas to be with her.
