CHARLOTTE—UNC Charlotte's fourth annual 49ers for life blood drive was a success.

The university collected 885 units of blood Tuesday; double their average collection numbers. The university was competing with colleges across the state. Their main goal is to help save lives through blood donations.

Appalachian State University holds the current title with more than 1,300 pints collected last year.
