BESSEMER CITY, N.C. -- Someone is stealing manhole covers in Bessemer City. According to the Gaston Gazette, 30 covers have been taken in the past week. They're made of cast iron and valued at about $90 a piece.

The first theft was discovered on Dec. 11. So far, cars have been damaged but city leaders are concerned that someone could fall into the holes where the covers have been removed.
