GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A vacant factory will soon be the home to a large German manufacturer.

The Gaston County Economic Development Commission announced Nussbaum, a maker of automotive lifts. has purchased the building in the Delta Business Park in west Gastonia. Nussbaum will use the 56,000 sq. ft. facility as its North American headquarters.

Operation is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2013, bringing 83 new jobs to the area.

"A while ago we started to talk with the colleges, with the workforce development and they all reassured us that there's a good basis of technology skilled people. And there's also a lot of factories that are already here or have been here in the past and the people have been educated," said company president Steffen Nussbaum.

This is Nussbaum's first venture outside of Germany. It is an investment of more than $7.5 million.
