BEECH MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- Sandy is bringing an early Christmas present to the ski resorts in the North Carolina mountains. Snow is falling in the area.

The Watauga County area and around Beech Mountain could get up to 8 inches of snow. High winds are expected to knock down trees and power lines.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the region through Wednesday morning.
