SALISBURY — The Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury unveiled its newest renovations Wednesday.
A new six bed hospice and a 'Main Street themed' atrium is now open to veterans. The Main Street is equipped with a 24-7 movie theater, shops, and even an indoor park. The VA's new medical director, Kaye Green, said it makes the VA feel more like home.
"We really focus in VA in trying to make it a veteran's home, and not just to provide the healthcare services needed; but everything that they would need in their daily lives," said Green.
A new six bed 'hoptel' is also open. It gives veterans a place to stay who are traveling long distances for appointments. Construction costs for the three projects total $8 million.
