CHARLOTTE -- The Club at Irish Creek hosted another prestigious event this week-- the first stage of qualifying school for the PGA Tour.

Some Charlotte 49ers are trying making a name for themselves as Stefan Wiedergruen shot 5 under in the final round and advanced with a tie for 4th at 9 under overall.

Jonas Enander Hedin, another 49er climbing the leaderboard, shot 1 under Friday to finish 7 under for the tournament and advanced as well.

They were all chasing former ECU Pirate Harold Varner who birdied the 14th hole and finished 13 under for the week. Varner finished on top followed by Sebastian McLean, Ryan Sullivan, Stephan Jaegar, Joel Lyn and Stefan Wiedergruen.
