NEWTON — A judge has found probable cause to charge a Hickory man with a decades-old rape.

Detectives believe 68-year-old Albert Turner raped a child in 1973. The case will now go to the grand jury. Turner was expected to testify at the innocence hearing for Willie Grimes earlier in October.

Police found Turner's fingerprints at the scene of a rape that Grimes was charged with and spent 24 years in prison for before he was cleared.

Turner chose not to testify because of the possibility of self-incrimination.
