CHARLOTTE--Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a shooting that left one man with multiple gunshot wounds in the stomach and chest.

The shooting happened around 5:00 a.m. on the 11,000 block of Pointer Ridge Drive in northwest Charlotte.

Police said the man injured was in surgery with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The shooting is not believed to be a random act of violence and police are trying to locate a suspect.
