SALISBURY, N.C. -- A Rowan County couple accused of stealing from a family while they attended their child's funeral was in court Wednesday.
Deputies say Bobby Milam, 26, and his girlfriend, Jessica Williams, 22, broke into the home and stole about $4,000 worth of property. The pair faces felony breaking and entering and larceny charges.
Williams' attorney asked for a bond reduction Wednesday morning. That request was denied and she remains in custody under a $50,000 bond. Milam is also in custody facing the same bond.
Many of the items taken belonged to the family's child, including a lock of his hair. His mother said that makes the incident even more difficult to handle.
"The TV and all the stuff can be replaced, I don't even care that stuff is gone. I'm concerned that my son's stuff is gone. And I can't replace that ill never have that again," said victim Jessica Kepley.
Parker Munn, 1, drowned on Sept. 11 in a neighbor's fountain. Investigators also found Munn's birth certificate in a burned pile of trash.
The victims said they expect to be in court for Milam's and Williams' next appearances on Nov. 7.
