SUFFOLK COUNTY, Mass. — The District Attorney in Suffolk County, Massachusetts confirmed a body found in the Charles River near Boston University is a missing Charlotte graduate student after dental records matched the body.

Jonathan Dailey, 23, was last seen one week ago. He was reported missing Friday when he failed to show up for work at a Cambridge Clothing store.

When learning of the news Tuesday night, Dailey's sister posted on the Facebook page setup in his honor on behalf of his family: We are in shock. Please lift us up, we are devastated.

Dailey was studying architecture in Boston. He had graduated from Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte and Appalachian State University. Officials in Boston said they promised Dailey's family a thorough, comprehensive search for the truth as they investigate his death.

In a statement, a Dailey family spokesperson said:

As imagined they are in shock and grieving and will need a bit of time for privacy. They do ask that if anyone has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, that could help the investigation into the death of their son to please contact the Boston Police Department.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dailey's family set up a $5,000 reward for information about the case.
