RALEIGH--An NHL lockout has forced the cancelation of regular-season hockey games for the second time in seven years. The league on Thursday wiped out 82 games through Oct. 24, beginning with four on Oct. 11.

For Carolina Hurricanes fans hoping this year's NHL season would start on time Thursday's announcement by the league didn't bring good news.

"I think disappointing was the first thing that came to mind," said Hurricanes season ticket holder Ted Enarson.

"People wait the whole time during the off-season anticipating that season starting and so when you find out it's not going to its pretty disappointing," said Hurricanes season ticket holder Savanna Edmiston.

Without a new collective bargaining agreement the league has canceled the first two weeks of the regular season. For Hurricanes season ticket holders and hockey fans there's no telling when they will get to see their favorite team hit the ice.

The Hurricanes first six games have been put on ice, all of those being road games because of the North Carolina State Fair. Hockey fans have been through this before before when a lockout canceled the entire 2005 season.

Thursday's announcement cancels games from October 11 through October 24. The Hurricanes first home game is scheduled for October 26 against the Rangers. For the moment that game is safe at least for now.
