An Amber Alert is canceled for this missing Carteret County girl. Authorities said she was found safe in Florida.

Abigale Lefevers, 12, disappeared on Sunday night. Authorities said she was with a registered sex offender, Timothy Newman, 38, who is now in custody for child abduction.

He was convicted in 2003 for a sex offense involving a 14-year-old girl in Stokes County.

Newman's car was stopped near a Denny's restaurant in Hallandale Beach, Fla. He was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies had reason to believe Newman and Abigale were traveling from South Carolina to Florida. Authorities said Newman had communicated with Abigale during the past several weeks.
