CHARLOTTE — Authorities are on the watch for more demonstrations today outside the Democratic National Convention in uptown Charlotte.

On Tuesday, 13 people were arrested during protests. They were met by a large police presence. Authorities said they think about 100 protesters are still camping out at Marshall Park in uptown Charlotte.

It has been a pretty quiet night, following the two demonstrations Tuesday. People have been either sleeping or standing around, and protesters said people can expect to see more action out of the group again Wednesday.

“It may have looked scary to a bystander. But I really enjoyed the energy that we had last night. Regardless of how outnumbered we were by the police officers, we still kept it strong,” said organizer Kirk Root.

The event earlier Wednesday involved the group facing off with police at the intersection of Caldwell and Stonewall streets, before the group walked up and down Tryon Street. Both events were met with heavy police presence, including CMPD Police Chief Rodney Monroe.

Protesters said they had a debrief after Wednesday's march and while today's agenda is still up in the air they say it will involve meetings, action planning, and a few of them said definitely participating in a 7 p.m. anti-two party system march.

A total of 13 people were arrested at demonstrations Tuesday. Three people were arrested between the two marches and then 10 people were arrested from the group No Papers, No Fear, Right for Justice after blocking and uptown intersection.

Many of the individuals are expected to appear in court Wednesday.
