Ryan, Rice re-energizes worn RNC delegates on Day 3

Quite a night for Republicans in Tampa.

To be honest, a big portion of the night was fairly flat and quiet. I'm not sure it was all the speakers' fault. The delegate bus issue was a nightmare for a number of states.

Many North Carolina delegates tell me they didn't get to bed until 3 a.m.

But when Condi Rice took the stage, it was like a light switch and the energy erupted from the delegates in an instance.

Paul Ryan's speech was by far the most well received with the most applause and partisan screams.

Even if you don't like Paul's policies and ideas, you had to be happy for his mom and got a standing option.

As a parent, I can only imagine to have one of my kids in that position someday.

I'm not sure how much of the protester outburst you saw on television, but it was pretty calm inside and Ryan just waited quietly while she was removed.

It was interesting after his speech and his kids came out with his wife. It reminded me of another young VP candidate in Boston in 2004.

An interesting day where we were anchoring the show near the floor. Stephen Baldwin was next to me appearing on MSNBC and Jon Voight. We also so Chuck Woolery. That's the beautiful thing about covering these conventions.

You just never know what or who you will see!

Anyway, It is 2 a.m. and time to get some sleep. See you from Tampa tomorrow!
