TAMPA, Fla.--Even with the threat of Isaac looming over the area, Sunday was anything but dull in downtown Tampa. The Faith & Freedom Celebration energized hundreds of Republicans, while counter protesters made sure their message and presence wasn't silenced.

Clashing peacefully but verbally, minimum wage workers and a mainly Republican audience at the Faith & Freedom Celebration met face outside the Tampa Theater Sunday afternoon.

On one side, low income workers who traveled to Tampa, from as far as California, said the upcoming Republican National Convention and GOP party platform don't do enough to address their concerns.

"They need to hear that we need a raise in the minimum wage, they need to hear that we want the wealthy to pay their fair share. At this point, it doesn't seem like they are listening," said Jefferson McGee, Sacramento, California.

On the other side, most attendees at the Faith & Freedom Celebration saw the event as the unofficial kickoff, a chance for conservative values and a GOP ticket to return to the White House.

"Ryan and Romney can get their word out. They've been trying to portray them in the press of who they are now, but now we're going to be able to see who they really are," said Diane Karey, Treasure Island, Florida.

Despite the threat of Isaac, organizers of the Faith & Freedom Celebration said they never really considered canceling the event, because the storm isn't expected to affect the area until Monday.
