TAMPA, Fla.--North Carolina delegates have been in the Tampa area since Saturday,and leaders said they don't expect the weather from preventing anyone from participating in the convention.

Even as the wind was picking up in the bay on Sunday afternoon and ominous headlines were filling the papers, the Hilton Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida was filled with excitement and anticipation.

Dr. Ada Fisher of Rowan County is in Florida, ready to take part in her third convention.

Fisher and her fellow delegates said of course the weather is a concerning, but not anything that they are spending too much time worrying about.

“That's all right, we'll get over that, but unlike Minnesota, we'll win this one,” said Fisher.

“Well remember in Charlotte, we've had Hurricane Hugo, in Raleigh we've had Hurricane Fran. I think we are more familiar with hurricanes than most people realize, we know they are dangerous, we know they are a challenge, but we know we can get through them,” said delegate William Hamby from Cabarrus County.

The delegates still gathered on Sunday, with pre-convention activities still going on and they said they are not disappointed they won't be at the forum to get down to business until Tuesday.

With convention activities officially not starting until Tuesday, the North Carolina delegation still has plenty of activities on its plate for Monday.
