CHAPEL HILL – Butch Davis has about a month to turn over his cell phone records. Not all of them, just the work-related calls he made with his personal cell.
Judge Howard Manning ordered the timeline on Wednesday.
News 14 Carolina, along with other news organizations, requested the records.
Earlier this month, Manning ruled in favor of Davis, saying his personal cell phone records will be kept private and only the records of UNC business related calls will be released.
Davis responded earlier today, saying he respects the judge's decision and quote:
"My sole desire in this process has been to protect the privacy of my family and friends. To the extent that my colleagues are inconvenienced by the release of these numbers, I apologize to them."
His attorney Jon Sasser released a statement saying in part:
“The records of his business calls, which we will fully provide, will confirm the NCAA’s ruling, and UNC’s stated position, that Coach Davis has done absolutely nothing inappropriate."
