GREENSBORO — Despite Sunday's rain delay, organizers of the Wyndham Golf Championship said the tournament was one of the best-ever in its 73-year history.

Ticket sales on Saturday hit record highs. In addition to the $40 million impact the tournament has on the economy, officials say the Wyndham Golf Championship exposes North Carolina to the world of golf.

"The exposure that we get from the broadcast to 200 countries around the world that were here in Greensboro," said tournament director Mark Brazil.

"I guess you could say it was on a bucket list, so I can check it off my bucket list now, " said golf fan Emily Rodenhi.

Sunday's rain delay was only the second in the tournament's history. Plans are already in the works for next year's championship.
