CHARLOTTE--Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his newly announced running mate, Wisconsin representative Paul Ryan, flew in to the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Saturday night.

Gov. Romney was expected in North Carolina on Sunday to kick off his bus tour, but the candidates announced a surprise arrival Saturday, which happened around 8:45pm.

Unfortunately, the media was not able to speak with the duo. Gov. Romney and Congressman Ryan did take a few minutes to speak with some of their supporters and sign autographs before boarding the campaign bus with their families.

During the big VP announcement Saturday morning, Ryan said he is ready to help Gov. Romney win the November election.

“This is a crucial moment in the life of our nation and it is absolutely vital that we select the right man to lead America back to prosperity and greatness. That man is standing next to me. His name is Mitt Romney. And he will be the next president of the United States,” stated Ryan.

The candidates were taken to a Charlotte hotel to prepare for a busy Sunday.

The Romney/Ryan bust tour starts in Mooresville at the NASCAR Technical Institute Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by a visit to Absolute Style Furniture in High Point at 1:00 p.m.

The stop at Smokey's Barbecue Shack in Morrisville has been cancelled.

Instead, the candidates will travel to Congressman Ryan's home state of Wisconsin for a rally.
