CORNELIUS, N.C.--GOP leaders joined forces on Super Saturday for the opening of a Victory Office in North Mecklenburg County.
It's the party's third office in the Charlotte region. Southeastern Republican Party Chairmen along with the RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus, welcomed volunteers there.
They say are crucial to a victory in North Carolina this November.
Priebus greeted volunteers at the Cornelius office to rally their efforts on Super Saturday and to help unify the party with the help of other party leaders from across the southeast.
"Not for the future of the Republican party, but for the future of this country," said Priebus.
10 million volunteers campaigned for the GOP nationwide on Saturday. In Cornelius, they made cold calls and went door to door to get people registered to vote Republican.
"Winning and losing is dependent on how the big the army on the ground is for your side,” said Priebus.
North Carolina Republican Party Chairman, Robin Hayes, said the ground game is the party's focus in North Carolina, not just Saturday, but for the next three months.
"North Carolina's role is crucial everyday, up through the election," said Hayes.
Priebus said he believes grassroots campaigning and a presence in Charlotte during the DNC is a recipe for getting Romney in the White House.
"We're going to be here, we're going to be making sure the press covers our position," he said. He wouldn't elaborate further on a GOP strategy during the DNC, but did say a GOP presence in Charlotte is necessary to win.
"The words North Carolina come out of my mouth every single day because we have to win here and that's why we're committed to being here," said Priebus.
Currently there are 20 GOP victory offices across North Carolina. Republican leaders say they expect more to open leading up to the presidential election.
