CHARLOTTE – A section of northbound Interstate 85 in Cleveland County is back open after authorities closed it down Thursday afternoon to search a suspicious car.

Investigators say the incident started in Cherokee County, S.C., when they tried to stop a wanted fugitive. The suspect failed to stop and authorities pursued his vehicle up I-85.

The suspect was stopped near exit five and taken into custody. The search of his vehicle prompted authorities to detour cars off the interstate and the bomb squad was called in.

Officials found film canisters in the back seat with switches on them. They sent the canisters to ATF.
