CHARLOTTE -- The summer break means intern season for businesses across the country and late Wednesday afternoon, two large Charlotte banks found a more creative use for the extra labor.
Teams of Wells Fargo and Bank of America interns battled it out in the banks' "Clash of the Interns" charity dodgeball tournament.
One intern said that the tournament provided a fun way to give back.
"This is a great way to bring the community together especially across the two banks, the two biggest banks in Charlotte. And, so, to be able to come out here and do something really fun for children that are in need because, homelessness is a problem in Charlotte so it's good to do something, especially where we can all have fun doing it," said Wells Fargo intern Abby Harrill.
Teams of six to eight interns paid $40 to enter the tournament. Proceeds went to benefit A Child's Place, a charity that works to support homeless children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
