CHARLOTTE — An overflow crowd of neighbors voiced their opposition against a proposed apartment tower Monday night.
A developer, Woodfield Investments, wants to rezone property near South Park Mall for 280 units. The issue with the rezoning is the plan sits near a recreation club and neighborhood; worrying many neighbors about how it would affect their surroundings.
"We've repeatedly told Woodfield that we need them to reduce the building height along the entire club boundary and increase their setback to 100 ft. Then we would not object to this project,” said John Reeves of Barclay Downs Swim & Racquet Club.
"We've made a number of changes that we believe have made this a better product in keeping with the South Park plan,” said Jeff Brown of Woodfield Investments.
The Charlotte City Council is scheduled to vote on the project in September.
