HOPE MILLS, N.C. -- An Army chaplain who was hit by an SUV Friday is dead.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that Capt. Billy Shane Stauffer, 46, was jogging on Rockfish Road early Friday morning, when he was hit from behind.

He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died Saturday.

Authorities said no charges would be filed against the driver, since Stauffer was running in the road.
