RALEIGH — The temperatures climb once again across the state, as we expect more triple digit temperatures throughout the weekend.

Some people stay inside to beat the heat, others must endure the sun to get some time outside. On most days in Chavis Park in Raleigh, there are plenty of people out to get a little exercise. However scorching temperatures are leaving joggers looking for alternatives.

Record-setting heat this week has led to increased drought conditions and air quality concerns across the state. Yet more than anything, it is just uncomfortable being out in such extreme heat.

On Saturday, people are out earlier than usual to beat the heat attempting to start their routines before the mercury rises yet again.

“Well for one thing they want to beat the heat. But then we have a team that comes out here and they generally work out extensively,” said jogger Manetta Graham.

Officials recommend those who go outside should drink plenty of water and stay hydrated; avoiding caffeine and alcohol. It is also important to wear loose fitting and light colored clothing.
