CHARLOTTE – Five new solar-powered trash cans are on the streets of Charlotte.
The Big Belly waste stations are part of a one year pilot program with solid waste services.
Two systems will be for trash only, while an additional three have recycling.
The new bins are powered by the sun and offer real time technology that will notify solid waste when the bins are full. They should be fully operational later this week.
