NEW YORK -- Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another will not run in the Belmont Stakes Saturday. Trainer Doug O'Neill announced the scratch on the Dan Patrick Show Friday morning.

This comes hours after the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner went for an earlier than usual gallop around Belmont Park. I'll Have Another went to the track shortly after 5:30 a.m. Friday, O'Neill told the New York Racing Association. The colt jogged and then galloped around the 1-mile oval accompanied by stable pony Lava Man.

The trainer also said he was "fit and ready to go'' for Saturday's Belmont.

There has not been a Triple Crown winner since 1978.
