RALEIGH -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission Monday, asking it to block ads it says are false and illegal.

McCrory's campaign says the ad violates the Federal Communications Act by failing to identify its true sponsor. The ad is sponsored by North Carolina Citizens for Progress. The McCrory campaign contends that organization is a front for the Democratic Governor's Association.
