GREENSBORO -- More witnesses with intimate knowledge about John Edwards' campaign are in federal court in Greensboro Tuesday. Those include Tim Toben, a man the prosecution calls a personal friend of Edwards and the family of aide Andrew Young.

Toben testified that he warned President Barack Obama's campaign in 2008 to look closely at rumors about Edwards' infidelity. Toben had firsthand knowledge of Edwards' affair with Rielle Hunter and said he was astonished when Edwards told him he still had still had lofty political aspirations during a dinner. He testified that Edwards told him he believed Obama might tap him to run as vice president or be a member of his cabinet.

Toben's testimony is also the first time jurors heard a mention of a sex tape that showed Edwards and Hunter.

Also in court is former Edwards speechwriter Wendy Button, who is expected to testify about Edwards asking her to draft a public statement admitting an affair and fathering a baby outside of his marriage. Edwards reportedly told Button he knew about the nearly $1 million provided by wealthy donors that helped hide his pregnant mistress as he sought the Democratic nomination in 2008, but there were legal reasons he couldn't disclose his knowledge of the cover up.

Edwards now denies knowing about the money and has pleaded not guilty to six criminal counts related to campaign finance violations. He faces up to 30 years in prison and $1.5 million in fines if convicted.
