WILMINGTON — A victim of a drunken driving accident rode his bike to Wilmington to raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Lee Cooper left Salisbury last Wednesday to pedal in honor of his wife Lisa. She died in a drunken driving accident in 1993. Cooper was also in the accident and sustained brain damage, but it didn't stop him from spreading his message.
"Four and a half months in a coma. They said I would never live from it and they said I would never be normal, will never be able to do what I just done. Don't doubt this kid," said Cooper.
Cooper raised just more than $1,000 for MADD, but he is still taking donations. In order to help, visit walklikemadd.org, select Charlotte, NC, and click "donate now".
