CHARLOTTE – Police are investigating a death in east Charlotte in which a homeowner on Rolling Hills Road shot and killed a man who might have been trying to break into his home.

Police responded to a breaking and entering call there around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a person shot on the back porch.

That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homeowner was taken downtown to answer questions as was a woman authorities say drove the deceased to the area.

No names have been released and there is no word on when or if charges will be filed.
